Microsoft lays off 9,000 employees, hitting Xbox and gaming divisions in its largest cut in years.

According to Variety and Bloomberg, Microsoft has announced—or will announce in the coming days—massive layoffs affecting around 9,000 positions, roughly 4% of the company's workforce, which until recently totaled 228,000 employees.
