Hopefully this isn't the case. 1000-2000 people would be a huge exodus and great loss of talent.

Oof this isn't good news, it's never good when companies start laying off their employees. With the rise of AI we're going to see it more often though I'm afraid. Not saying these people lost their jobs due to AI, we don't know that but it wouldn't surprise me if that was the case. 🙁

Such bad news! I don't know when all of these are going is end and the worst part of it is that it is only going to be the common staff that will be affected in the end of the day.

Rumors were true: 9,000 employees layed off

Looks like rumors were true. Ended up being WAY more than previously thought. Hopefully these people can find jobs at other studios.

According to Variety and Bloomberg, Microsoft has announced—or will announce in the coming days—massive layoffs affecting around 9,000 positions, roughly 4% of the company's workforce, which until recently totaled 228,000 employees.

I believe this is the outcome smh. They're moving a lot of the workforce and using AI instead. It's quite unfortunate, but they're trying to cut down costs by any means, which is ridiculous when you're a billion dollar company.

I hope these workers are able to find new jobs soon.

This is not the first time we hear about layoffs and studio shutting down in the game industry. It's quite sad to see that so many talented gamers are losing their job at this pace , especially when they have a promising project like Perfect Dark at hand.
