Xbox just announced an AMD partnership for the next generation of consoles and handhelds.

Key takeaway is this:

"Delivering you an Xbox experience not locked to a single store or tied to one device."

It definitely seems like we're getting windows on the next Xbox, and we will be able to load Steam on it. If that's the case, I'll be a day one customer.

I find it interesting that Microsoft is still wanting to make consoles for the next generation of gaming when they keep promoting cloud gaming and how you can play Xbox games on many different devices other than the Series S/X. As long as they keep the disc drive as an option, I think I will get the next Xbox console. I'm going to eventually upgrade my Series S to an X at some point since I do have disc based games I would like to play without having to hook up my Xbox One S.

Currently for me, there is no reason to buy an Xbox.

I have a PC, PS5, and Switch. PC is for almost everything, PS5 for PlayStation exclusives and switch for Nintendo exclusives. And tbh you don't really need a PlayStation anymore if you have a PC if you're willing to wait a year.

If you have a PC, you pretty much have an Xbox due to game pass and all Xbox exclusives (if there are any) are on PC day one.

I would buy an Xbox day one if it had Steam support, because sometimes I would much rather be couch gaming than sitting at a desk. That's the only reason.
