There are so many retro games that still hold up today. A typical example is Super Mario Bros. The gameplay and the mechanics are still appealing to modern day players. These timeless games have not worn out, and their impact is still observed in the present day gaming. They are simple, challenging and nostalgic too.

Which Retro Games Still Hold Up Today?

Can old Pokemon games be considered retro now? I'm not talking about Red/Blue, but Emerald? Pokemon games are timeless IMO. Any can pick them up and play them.

Sadly those can be considered retro lol, Emerald is 20 years old. :S It's my favorite game in the series too! I say all the Genesis Sonic games hold up well to this day. Well maybe except for Sonic Spinball and Sonic 3D but the other games certainly do.

I feel old now. Emerald and Platinum are my two favorites. God Platinum is almost 20 years old too! I mainly grew up with Gen 4, but played Gen 3 toward of the end of it.

I grew up with Gen 1, 2, and 3 lol. So I feel your pain. I got my DS and a copy of Diamond around the time Platinum came out so it was a bit late. I was in high school when Diamond and Pearl came out, but I do remember looking up prototype screenshots of the game when it was still being developed, I think I seen them on either Serebii or IGN.

Yes, I totally agree that Pokémon games are iconic. Some other retro games that still hold up today are the Legend of Zelda and the Pac-Man. Both games continue to entertain gamers of all ages to this day.

I believe Super Mario Bros. still is fun today. It's easy to pick up but hard to master, and it brings back good memories. Older games like that still inspire new ones and are enjoyable to play even now.
