I tried playing the first Splatoon when I first got my Wii U. However it never really caught my attention so I traded in my copy to Gamestop shortly after getting it. This looks interesting though! I might get this game when it comes out, but I still need to get a Switch 2 lol.

Switch 2 is phenomenal. You won't regret getting one, specially if you already have a Switch 1.
