PUBG: Black Budget, a new extraction shooter from PUBG Corporation and Krafton, has just been announced. This marks the second PUBG project announced this year, with PUBG: Blindspot – a 5v5 team-based top-down tactical shooter – being revealed back in February.

The PUBG franchise began life in March 2017 with the early access release of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, an incredibly influential battle royale game inspired by the titular creator's ARMA 2 mod, DayZ: Battle Royale. In July 2021, publisher Krafton officially changed the name of the battle royale game to PUBG: Battlegrounds, and announced its intentions to build an entertainment franchise around the IP. A mobile game set in the PUBG universe was released in November 2021, and Striking Distance Studios' The Callisto Protocol was originally intended to be set in the far future of the PUBG universe.

Would this be a game you would be interested in? I tried PUBG a few times, and just couldn't get on with the gameplay at all. I may take a look at this, though, as I do enjoy extraction shooters.

I love to hear something like this. Getting an extraction shooter is a great development in the right direction. This PUBG extraction idea sounds interesting, but I hope they don't rush it. Extraction shooters can flop easily if the map design and loot system are not well designed. I sincerely hope that they get this right.

I have been hearing about this on social media platforms, especially on reddit. Honestly extraction shooters are becoming the new trend, so I'm not shocked. If PUBG does it well, it could actually blow because they already have the player base. If they really know what they are doing, they would put in extra effort to make sure that this works.
