Sony has surprised fans with a brand-new update for the PlayStation 5, bringing some new features to the console's Welcome Hub. While there aren't any other changes beyond updates to the PlayStation 5 Welcome Hub, it still gives fans eager for more customization options plenty to check out, including a new dynamic background that adjusts with the seasons and a widget that displays a user's recent game stats.

Back in September 2024, a new PlayStation 5 update added the Welcome Hub, a feature that allows players to customize their console experience with widgets, backgrounds, and more. Following the release of the 24.06-10.00.00 update last year, PlayStation 5 users are now met with the Welcome Hub whenever they turn their console on. From here, players can add, remove, or resize widgets and change the background of the Hub. This allows players to get "at a glance" information, such as controller battery, online friends, wishlist details, trophies, and much more.

Have you checked out this new update to the PlayStation 5 yet? What are your thoughts on it?

I don't have a PS5 but my friend does. He already installed the new update and the UI feels smoother. Sony actually did a good job this time. Nothing crazy, but the little improvements make the console feel fresher.

I haven't seen the update, but I know the importance of update to consoles because it brings in fresh features that will get gamers addicted. It might not be something groundbreaking but at least they're fixing small issues instead of breaking things like they normally do.
