Did the PS5 disappoint anyone else? (1 Viewer)

I can't quite put my finger on it, but for me the PS5 was/is a disappointing console. I picked mine up shortly after the initial shortage - I was working two jobs at the time during / just after COVID and decided to treat myself.

Over the years I've had it, I've still continued to play both my PS4 and even my PS3 with more consistency than the PS5. Everything about it just seems to have failed to impress, apart from the DualSense controller which its effectiveness tends to vary from game to game.

Perhaps I just haven't played any really new AAA titles to be blown away by the graphics yet? My backlog is quite substantial (well over 1000 games), but I'm going to give the Silent Hill 2 remake a shot, since it's just arrived on Plus..

I'd be intrigued to know if anyone feels the same?

What kind of TV/Monitor are you using? I don't feel like you're gonna be blown away unless you have a 4K and/or OLED TV/Monitor.

It took me over a year after release to finally get one - mostly because of the shortage. I just couldn't get my hands on it at first. I still remember the first time I tried it though, and it absolutely didn't disappoint. It's a great console in my opinion: quick, easy gaming, and for what it costs, it's incredibly well optimized and built.

That said, I'll admit I haven't touched mine in about six months. But once GTA 6 drops, my PS5 is definitely going to be my go-to again.

Took me a while to get one as well! And mine ended up being mostly free!

I was on the wait list for both the PS5 and the Steam Deck at the time. Got in for the Steam Deck and when it arrived I played with it for a bit and decided eh I don't need it, got my PC.

Well, that same day I got an email to get a PS5 from the wait list! I ended up selling the Steam Deck to someone local for almost double the price and bought the PS5. So that's my story of how I got an almost free PS5.

Honestly I prefer my Xbox Series S to my PS5. Yes it's a weaker console, but I love that I can play games from the 360 era that I purchased on my 360 years ago. I can play more Sonic games on my Xbox Series S than I can on my PS5 so that's another reason why I prefer it. I'm not a fan of AAA titles much outside of Sonic games, so my wife plays our PS5 more since she likes a few AAA such as Death Stranding 1 and 2.

I don't want us to address it only to PS5. I haven't seen any game that has not disappointed anyone. That tells you that no game is perfect. So, PS5 disappointed me a little bit. I expected more exclusive games early on. The console itself is great, but the hype was too much compared to what we got
