Steam Users Are Being Called Out, As Analyst Says The Platform Is Thriving Because We're All "Hoarders"
It's true, but he shouldn't say it.
This article doesn't have that much substance, but does bring up an interesting subject. The author basically makes the claim that the Steam platform is doing so well because it's users buy so many games they don't play and maintain a massive backlog.
Well, I have roughly ~2700 games on Steam acquired over 10+ years. I was thinking about why I have so many games on Steam compared to other platforms like PlayStation or Nintendo. And I think the answer is accessibility and ease of use.
Steam makes buying games easier than any other platform in my opinion. There are numerous deals that come out through the here. Oh, I can get [insert popular game here] for $3? $5? Yeah no problem. And yeah, if you don't like the game, you're more than welcome to refund it. But are you going to? Honestly, unless I pay full price for a game and I really don't like it, I'm probably not going to refund it.
Steam has an insane grip on their player base that other platforms don't have. Anyone else have thoughts?
