Any of you play a game and it doesn't click until years later? I just had that experience with Ghost of Tsushima. I bought years ago on PS5, and then again on PC and it never clicked for me. Not sure why, maybe it was the combat. I started it again recently on PC and now I'm plowing through it. Combat has clicked and it's very satisfying once you learn the techniques and acquire more abilities.

This would have been Destiny 2. I remember the first Destiny I played a lot of, it became quite an addictive game, but when the second game was released, I couldn't get into it like I did the first game, and it took a while before I started playing again.

Once I got playing and it clicked with me, I had to be careful as I could spend hours on the game without even realising.

Super Mario Galaxy. My brother and I got it near launch in 2007 after loving Super Mario 64 and Sunshine, but we played Galaxy about an hour and then shelved it. In late 2009 I had to stay home from school after having an incident with medicine, so I was feeling really weird and got a craving to try Galaxy again. At the time I was also getting into console gaming and Nintendo again thanks to discovering the Angry Video Game Nerd and watching a ton of his videos. It was the perfect storm, that day I started Galaxy again and couldn't put it down. I played all the way through that school year, just in time for Galaxy 2 to come out in May 2010. Hit the ground running with Galaxy 2, I was super-hyped for that one.

For me it was Dark Souls. The first time I played I bounced off hard felt too punishing and obtuse. Then Came back like a year later with more patience and suddenly it clicked. The combat felt deliberate instead of clunky and I got obsessed. because Sometimes you just need the right mindset or timing to appreciate a game properly.

For me it's definitely Shining Force on the Mega Drive. When I first played it, I couldn't get into it since I wasn't really a fan of tactical RPGs at the time. Then I picked it up again a few years later and something just clicked, I liked it and I ended up beating the game. I started playing the sequel not long after beating the first one but I got lost and haven't picked it back up lol.

For me it was The Witcher 3. I dropped it like twice because it felt slow, but when I forced myself to really sit with it, the game opened up like magic. Now it's one of my favourites ever.
