Very interesting project. The project does not use any assets or code from the original game, so it would very difficult for Nintendo to come after it. You have to provide your ROM dumps.

I know it would be difficult for them in theory to come near it but knowing Nintendo's business practices they most likely will try to get it removed sadly. Since it's using the characters, that's just how they roll these days which is depressing to see. Either way it's a cool project but I have a feeling soon it will be removed due to copyright claims.
