Is the future of Xbox looking bleak? (1 Viewer)

We know that Microsoft has raised the price of their Xbox Series S and X not once but twice this year. On top of that, they've also decided to increase the price of Game Pass Ultimate, and it's now a staggering $30 a month! With all these negative things happening with the Xbox brand, do you think the future of Xbox is looking bleak? I know there's a rumor going around that we will be seeing a Console/PC hybrid as the next Xbox. If the rumors are true, they're also talking about making multiplayer free and it might be enough to help dig them out of the hole they've dug but we'll have to see if they actually choose to offer free multiplayer. I'm also hoping the next console will still have a disc drive, but if it's a PC/Console hybrid I fear they might ditch the disc drive and go all digital. (If that's the case I probably will stop getting Xbox consoles.) Right now I'm thinking the Xbox brand is not looking great. It's a shame because I really love my Series S. (I want to get a X soon.)

Xbox is a zombie brand and platform at this point. I don't think they're coming back in a conventional way at this point. They'd just be better off becoming a full-on third-party publisher and pushing gaming on Windows 11 as well. My brother had an idea for them to release a gaming-focused variant of the Windows 11 OS that cuts back on unnecessary processes/bloat to boost gaming performance in addition to including some features useful to gamers.

It's a shame that the Xbox brand has crashed and burned, but it was pretty much all self-inflicted wounds ever since the latter half of the Xbox 360's life.

I don't think Xbox's future is bleak, but they're definitely facing some challenges. They're focusing more on Game Pass and cloud gaming, which is smart but different from the traditional console race. PlayStation is dominating in sales, but Xbox has strong exclusives and services. They're just taking a different approach to stay relevant in the market.
