Grand Theft Auto 6 was not delayed due to the controversial firings recently carried out by Rockstar, according to a journalist with a strong track record of accurate reporting on the company. The claim contradicts widespread fan theories that emerged following confirmation of the latest GTA 6 postponement.

Take-Two Interactive yesterday announced the second GTA 6 delay to date, rescheduling the game from May 26 to November 19, 2026. The move came just days after the company was accused of union-busting for firing more than 30 developers across its UK (31) and Canadian (3) offices. The close timing of the two events fueled speculation that the firings were linked to the delay.

I guess if that is the case, some may be very annoyed about the delay again and may want an explanation as to why we have another delay.

Considering what a big game GTA 6 seems to be, I can understand them needing a bit more time to polish it for the best experience possible. Nintendo stated that Tears of the Kingdom could have been released in 2022 but they wanted extra time to ensure it was a polished experience, hence the final 2023 release date.

The thinking both Nintendo and even more so Rockstar have is that these are games that will be selling for many, many years, so it's important that they launch in the best state possible so that momentum continues for a long time. Yes, these are the beloved "evergreen" titles that game publishers dream of, ensuring consistent sales even in slower periods with less game releases. Just look at GTA 5, that has been selling like hotcakes since 2013! I remember my classmates talking about it when it came out in my senior year of high school, and now people at my day job are still talking about it.
