Well things just got spicier. Here's a quick rundown of the events for those that don't know:

  1. Earlier this month, the original Subnautica developers were fired by their publisher, Kraftom
    1. Director Charlie Cleveland, co-founder Max McGuire, and CEO Ted Gill were fired
    2. Steve Papoutsis appointed as new CEO
  2. After their ousting, Kraftom delayed the release of Subnautica 2 from this year to early 2026.
  3. There was a $250 million dollar bonus tied to revenue goals reached by the end of 2025.
    1. Kraftom claims that the game was unfinished and said they abandoned development responsibilities citing diversion to competing projects including Cleveland's film work.
    2. The developers claim that the game WAS early access ready and accused Kraftom of delaying the game in order to keep the bonus to themselves
  4. Lawsuit filed related to the $250 million dollar bonus
This will be interesting to hear out in court. Sounds like the publisher didn't to payout that massive bonus.
